Open Meeting - Invite a Friend Who Cares!
As a cornerstone of Seattle's efforts promoting social change, FareStart was founded in 1992 to help people learn job skills for working the foodservice industry as a way to move them out of poverty. Along with teaching practical job and self-empowerment skills, FareStart also supplies community food efforts and operates a restaurant generating program revenue and serving as a training environment. If it sounds like a natural for Les Dames d'Escoffier Seattle Green Table Committee support, you're 100 percent correct. To honor the Committee's 2025 grant to FareStart, our June meeting will be held on location.
For the evening, Kelly Otis and Erika Van Merr will outline FareStart's programs relating to grant donations and new training programs for participants. (Think upcycling program linked with PCC.) And if FareStart is new to you, learning about its beginning and subsequent work launching similar food service job training programs in cities across the U.S. is guaranteed inspiring.
